Deanne Eccles is a contemporary artist and educator whose practice has been shaped by more than three decades of research into colour, perception and sensory experience. Her background includes two years of full-time Steiner teacher training and subsequent classroom practice, including taking a class through as a Steiner teacher. Her longstanding study of Goethe's phenomenological approach to observation, perception and colour led to further training at the Goetheanum in Switzerland in Gerard Wagner's painting methodology with Caroline Chanter, and colour studies with artist and educator, Van James, in Venice. These influences, alongside her research in movement and sensory perception, underpin her own methodology--Body, Sense, Perception and Response--which explores the intelligence of sensory experience and the body's capacity to perceive before the mind reaches a conclusion.
