VET FEE-HELP and VET Student Loans
We are currently an approved VET FEE-Help provider for local eligible students who enrolled in the Advanced Diploma of Rudolf Steiner Education in 2016, who in addition, may be eligible for Austudy. VET FEE Help assists eligible, full fee-paying students to pay for part of the course fees. In late 2016 the Federal Government reviewed this loan scheme, replacing it with ‘VET Student Loans’ to take effect on 1st January 2017. We are pleased to advise that in December this course was approved for VET Student Loans, and as a provider we have provisional VET Student Loan status for the period January -June 2017. Please phone our office for further information about VET Student Loans. We will update our website as information becomes available. Students wishing to know more about VET Student Loans can read the Information Booklet from the Department of Education and Training here.
What is VET FEE-Help?
VET FEE-Help is a student income contingent loan scheme for the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector that is part of the Higher Education Loan Program (HELP). Full details regarding VET FEE-Help can be obtained by visiting the VET fee help page at http://www.studyassist.gov.au/sites/studyassist/helppayingmyfees/vet-fee-help/pages/vet-fee-help
How does the VET FEE HELP loan scheme benefit me?
VET FEE-Help assists eligible, full fee-paying students to pay for all or part of their VET tuition fees when studying an accredited VET course at a VET provider. The Melbourne Rudolf Steiner Seminar Ltd is an accredited VET provider for its Advanced Diploma in Rudolf Steiner Education course (code 10527NAT).
Over a student’s lifetime they may borrow through VET FEE-HELP and FEE-HELP, an amount up to the FEE-HELP limit to pay their tuition fees. VET FEE-HELP debts become a part of an individual’s accumulated HELP debt.
There is a loan fee of 20% that applies to full fee-paying students accessing VET Fee-HELP loans. The FEE-HELP limit does not include the loan fee. The Australian Government pays the amount of the loan direct to a student’s provider. Students are required to repay their loans through the Australian taxation system once their repayment income is above the minimum repayment threshold.
Who is eligible to apply for VET FEE-HELP?
There is no age restriction on VET FEE-HELP, however to be eligible a student must be an Australian citizen or permanent humanitarian visa holder who is resident in Australia for the duration of study.
